One, None, or Infinite: Solving Multi-Step Equations
Shared by A STEM Educator★ Featured Teacher · rated 90+ in our quality review
Students will solve multi-step linear equations and classify their solutions as one solution, no solution, or infinitely many solutions by analyzing the structure of simplified equations.
Lesson Overview
Students progress from solving basic two-step equations through distributing and combining like terms, ultimately determining whether equations have one solution, no solution, or infinitely many solutions. Each task changes exactly one variable to build toward full mastery.
Materials
- Vertical whiteboards or chart paper
- Dry-erase markers (one per group)
- Random grouping cards or a random-name spinner
